The 2018 Silver Lunar ‘Year of the Dog’ coin depicts a German Shepherd dog and pup lying in the grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for “Dog” and the inscription “Year of the Dog” also appear in the design with the Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark. As with all Australian legal tender coinage, the obverse design has Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and inscriptions that include the face value of the coin, date, weight and “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA.”
